Dawn of the Dead (2004) Image Analysis 2

This scene is an example of collision cutting; moving from a series of fast cuts with match on action shots and intense music, to a slow cut that features sedative background music. This creates tension and suspense in the scene as the audience wait for the action to start again. It also creates a time where the characters can react as a stereotype reinforcing the horror ideals. The final girl (who unusually has blonde hair) appears dominant with in the shot posing with her hands on her hips, this contrasts to the female victim who is heavily made up and is flicking her hair.
